Academic Overview

The Academy:
Marmion Academy, a Catholic-Benedictine college preparatory high school for young men, is a community dedicated to spiritual formation, academic excellence and leadership development. Founded in 1933, Marmion is conducted by the Benedictine Priests and Brothers of Marmion Abbey and is situated on a scenic 325 acre campus in Aurora, Illinois.

Special Academic Programs:
• Honors courses are offered all four years

•The Advanced Placement Program of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) is offered in Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Physics, English IV, U.S. History, European History, Statistics, Foreign Language and Music Theory

•Theology is a full-time accredited academic course of study required of all students everyday for all four years.

The Students:

The Marmion Academy student body consists of 520 boys in grades 9-12.

•99% of the students are from Illinois.

•89% of the students are Roman Catholic.

•16% are minority students.

Annually, approximately 95% of Marmion graduates attend a four-year college or university, with 4% attending a community college and 1% entering military service. Annually, approximately 65% of Marmion Academy graduates receive an academic scholarship or honor, the Class of 2007 receiving over $7.5 million in scholarships. Since 1958, 112 Marmion students have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists, with hundreds more being named as Semifinalists and commended Students.
