Teaching Philosophy: I have a love for the disciplines of both history and theology. I have always used the Socratic method of teaching and feel that I am called to challenge and stretch the students in my class. I hope to transmit to my students a model of Christian and monastic life that will be of service to them for many years to come. One of the great satisfactions I have found over the years has been encountering former students who have returned and told me how valuable and formative they found my classes as they entered college and graduate school.

Paul was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Illinois National Guard. He is assigned to the 1st Battalion 122nd Field Artillery in Chicago where he will serve as the Battalion Chaplain. He is the only Catholic Chaplain currently serving in the Army Illinois National Guard. “I have a strong desire to serve our nation’s soldiers by bringing them the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist,” said Fr. Paul about his decision to join the Illinois National Guard. “The troops definitely have a right to the sacraments since they are putting themselves in harm’s way for the sake of all of us. There were no Catholic priests in the Army National Guard when I was looking into the different Armed Services, plus being in the Illinois Guard would not take me away from my life here at Marmion. So their need was a good fit for me.”
