Marmion Parents' Club
2007-2008 School Year Events
Throughout the year the Parents' Club host several events
and provide assistance to other Marmion departments as requested. To facilitate
these activities, we have a group of officers
and class representatives; however, we rely on all Marmion parents
to help.
All parents are encouraged to complete the volunteer
sign-up sheet that is handed out at registration and return it to
the school office. Volunteering is a great way to meet other Marmion parents
and have fun! For more information or if you would like to assist with
any event email the Contact persons listed with the event.
Back-to-School Night
Sunday, September 16, 2007
Back-to-school Night gives parents the opportunity to visit their
son's classrooms and meet his teachers and other members of the Marmion
faculty and staff. Parents' Club officers decorate the foyer and hand
out student directories. Class reps call parents to provide baked goods
and help serve refreshments.
Student Soc-Hops
There are several soc-hops during the year, giving students from Marmion
and Rosary an opportunity to socialize. Parents are encouraged assist
Marmion faculty and staff in chaperoning the soc-hops.

Homecoming Weekend
Friday & Saturday, September 28 & 29, 2007
Starts off with a Friday night celebration which includes a pep rally,
amusement rides, bonfire and fireworks (cosponsored by the Alumni Association,
Sports Boosters and Student Council). Saturday's events include the sophomore
and varsity football games against St. Francis, Halftime ceremonies and
a student dance. All parents are encouraged to assist by chaperoning one
or more of the Homecoming events.

Recruitment Committee
The recruitment committee assists the Admissions Department by hosting
casual open houses for prospective Marmion families, assisting with the
November Open House and by making personal phone calls to each family
whose son has been offered admission to Marmion.

A casual morning gathering to address the invitations to the annual
parents' Christmas Dinner Party.

Christmas Decorating Party

Mothers gather to decorate the Lux Dining Hall for the parents' Christmas
party. We adorn trees from the Marmion Christmas Tree Farm, setup the
Nativity sets and decorate buffets and dining tables. The evening ends
with a light dinner.

An age-old tradition at Marmion, and a nice start to the holiday season
Marmion faculty, alumni and parents are invited to join us for dinner
and dancing. Invitations are mailed in early November, the Fathers' Club
coordinates a raffle and individual families and various groups are asked
to donate baskets to be raffled at the dinner dance.

Military Night

This JROTC department event includes a guest speaker, Drill Team performance,
awards ceremony and pass-n-review by the Marmion Corps of Cadets. The
Parents' Club hosts this event. Class reps call parents to bake cookies
and help serve refreshments. Fathers' club members decorate the gymnasium
for the evening.

Grandparents' Day

Marmion welcomes grandparents to join their grandsons for Mass, tour
and refreshments. Mothers' Club hosts this event with the Campus Ministry
program. Class reps call parents to bake and help serve refreshments.
The Volunteer Coordinator arranges for greeters and parents to assist
the photographer who is there to take complimentary photographs of the
boys with their grandparents.

Salute To Youth Dinner

The 46th annual Salute to Youth Dinner-Dance will be held at the elegant
Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace with an expected attendance of over 750
guests. It is the oldest high school benefit in metro Chicago and the
Academy ONE major fundraising event.
The Salute to Youth Benefit is sponsored by Marmion's Board
of Trustees, with assistance from the Parents' Club. Marmion's seniors
and their escorts are honored in the evening's Presentation Program. ALL
PARENTS are most cordially invited to attend this social highlight of
the school year. The Salute to Youth's proceeds assist the educational
programs for all Marmion students. The Parents' Club assists the Development
Office as requested. Mothers' Club President and Vice President serve
as Program Chairmen. Fathers' Club President serves of the Promotions
Chairman.

Mothers' Club Luncheon
Friday, May 9, 2008
All Marmion mothers/guardians, grandmothers, aunts and special friends
are invited to attend the end of the year Mothers' Club Luncheon. Invitation
are mailed in April. During the luncheon, senior moms/ guardians are recognized
and incoming Mothers' Club officers and class reps are announced. The
JROTC programs Change of Command and senior JROTC farewell follows in
the gymnasium for all who wish to attend.

Baccalaureate Mass
May 18, 2008
This is a Mass of celebration for the graduating seniors. Mothers'
Club officers arrange for the altar flowers and purchase the senior gift.
Commencement Ceremony
May 25, 2008
The Class of 2008 Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Marmion
gymnasium. The family of each graduating senior will receive 10 tickets.
Mothers' Club officers arrange for flowers for the graduation stage.
On-line Book Exchange
The On-line Book Exchange allows for the convenience sale of books
at the end of the school year. More information on the exchange will be
provided through Edline.
