The Mission of Spiritual Life at Marmion
How We Live out this Mission
Campus Ministry Projects
- Regular nursing home visits to the elderly.
- Volunteer for Special Olympics
- Food drives for those in need are sponsored during the year.
The proceeds go to Hesed House in Aurora, a shelter for the homeless.
- The Marmion Mentor programs provide tutors for Schneider Elementary
School, North Aurora. Students tutor during study halls or lunch period.
- Big Brother Program -Older students are paired off with underclassmen
to help them adjust to student life.
- Appalachian Work Trip -Students spend one week each summer
working at Nazareth Farm helping the poor in Center Point, West Virginia.
Students have a chance to work on home reconstruction and rehabilitation.
The type of work includes additions, roofing, floors, painting, heating,
electric, plumbing etc. Nazareth Farm is an association of the Roman
Catholic Church formed in response to and rooted in the Gospel and Social
Teachings of the Church. Their mission is to provide volunteers a communal
experience of Church, as a center of reflection and prayer, while working
to promote justice through the empowerment of the local community and
the volunteers.
- Mission Trips to Central America. Students experience a two
week cross cultural experience in Ecuador as well as at Marmion's mission
in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
