The 23rd Annual Cadet Classic took place July 21, 2006 at Bliss Creek Golf Club in Sugar Grove. The event, chaired by Wayne Hoover ‘87, drew 120 golfers, who were joined for dinner by seven additional alumni and friends. This year’s Cadet Classic winners were: Flight A - Mike Montminy ‘69, John Wallbaum, Rudy Schuetz and Jeff Kellet; and Flight B - Wayne Hoover ‘87, Mark Sullivan, Dave Prudden and Shane Sturman. The winner of this year’s Ping Set Raffle was Steve Ruddy ’87. With the great number of participants, generous sponsorship of all eighteen holes, and donations of contest prizes and door raffles this was the most successful Cadet Classic on record. This year’s hole contests included five hole-in-one opportunities: a Mustang Convertible, Fox Valley Ford; World Series of Poker + Entry Fee, Ruddy Brothers; Trip for two to Las Vegas, Rush-Copley Medical Center; Trip for four to Disneyland Resort; and Trip for two to Starr Pass Resort, Trust Company of Illinois. Other hole sponsors included: Sikich, LLP; Coffman Truck; Patriot Management, LLC; Aurora Tri-State Fire Protection; Belgio’s Catering; John’s Tavern and Restaurant; Illinois Building Inspection, Inc.; Fox River Food, Inc.; Bohr Roofing; Sikich, LLP; Gary and Jeff ’71 Roberts; Class of 1952; Kackert Homes. Other important sponsors of the event include: Ed Regole ’50, Respiratory Consultants, Kevin Murphy, Rush-Copley Medical Center, Kackert Homes and Cordogan, Clark and Associates. Raffle prizes were donated by Ed Regole ’50, Aurora Tri-State Fire Protection, Tom Chivari ’71, Eric Konen ’87, Madelyn Weed, Steve Hirner ’88, Tom Lentz ’67, Mike Kubaszewski of Pepsi Americas, Hammes Bookstore, Michael Olesen ’81, Mike Reynolds ’60, Marmion Alumni Association, Mike McDonnell ’69, and Rich Sharpenter ’63.
Golden Club Reunion for the classes of 1929 – 1956 was held the weekend of May 26, 2006 on the Marmion campus. The Golden Jubilee Class of 1956 had 53% of the class present for their induction into the Golden Club, with members coming from as far away as Mexico. A reception was held in their honor at the Battaglia Center Friday evening. Saturday’s events included a campus tour, video, Mass, reception and dinner. A live five-piece band “The Swing Shifters” provided dinner and dance music.
Marmion's Alumni Association held their 15th annual Steak Fry/Lobster Boil on Friday, June 2 at Marmion. Over 520 alumni, parents and friends attended the event.
The Silver Jubilee Class of 1981 and classes ending in 1 and 6 celebrated their reunion on June 10.
