Salute to Youth 2008The 46th annual Salute to Youth Dinner-Dance is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The ticket price is $325 per person. An attendance of over 780 is expected. All Marmion alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and friends are invited to share in an evening of elegance and friendship, and become part of Marmion's most admired tradition. The reception will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with dinner and dancing in the Grand Ballroom from 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 am. Music for the evening will be performed by the Greg Thompson Orchestra. The benefit is sponsored by Marmion's Board of Lay Trustees and assisted by the Parents' Club. A Sponsorship Program helps to underwrite the expenses of the evening so the dinner income can go directly to assist the Marmion Development Fund for the educational programs at the Academy. “These gift funds are essential for Marmion’s quality academic programs. As a private Catholic school, Marmion’s tuition income supports 84% of the actual educational costs. The rest must come from donations and the annual Salute to Youth income,” reports Fr. Charles Reichenbacher OSB '59, Marmion’s director of development.

A formal post-dinner presentation of the Guard and Court of Honor highlights the evening, followed by the Presentation Dance and the Parents’ Dance. The young women the seniors wish to escort are nominated by the seniors’ parents. It is preferred that the nominees be high school juniors or seniors. |
