Band Director

Marmion Academy is a Catholic-Benedictine College Preparatory School for young men. The Academy prides itself on a rigorous academic curriculum, a devotion to spiritual growth, and fostering strong leadership skills. The Band Program is supported by a healthy budget and consists of students from Marmion Academy and its sister school, Rosary High School, which is a Catholic school for young women. The Band Director is encouraged to collaborate with other instructors at Marmion and Rosary and with local middle schools and grade schools.

The Band Director will be in charge of all concerts and activities concerning students involved in the Band Program. These activities include teaching Concert Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Marching Band, and Pep Band in class or as extra-curricular activities. The Band Director is also responsible for assisting the Military Band Program as part of the schools extensive JROTC Program. This position also offers the flexibility to teach individual or small group lessons throughout the school day. The position may entail classroom responsibilities in various subject areas, such as music theory, music appreciation, or music technology as needed throughout the day.

The Band Director must work with the Music Boosters parent organization in order to organize events and activities such as competitions, fundraisers, field trips, and other community involvement and outreach activities as the Band Director may see fit.

Lastly, the Band Director reports directly to the Fine Arts Chairperson, and is expected to participate in recruitment events and programs to promote the school.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must:
• have a bachelor’s degree, but preferably a master’s degree with an emphasis on Music and/or Music Education; having a teaching license is preferable.
• be comfortable using the piano as a classroom tool and should have a comprehensive knowledge of music theory and college level curriculum.
• be capable of providing individual or small group instruction to students with pedagogy capable of improving music literacy, technique, and basic knowledge of theory and history.

+ Instructors with a proficiency in the use of technology are a plus.

Bus Driver (Part Time)

Marmion Academy is looking for a part-time bus driver available weekdays, evenings and some weekends. Qualified individuals must have all endorsements for school bus operation, air brake endorsement, be able to pass DOT physical, and have interstate clearance designation.
