This presentation is part of Marmion’s initiative to promote the healing of victims of sexual abuse and others impacted by the trauma of sexual abuse. This healing happens through applying concepts based on Restorative Justice. At its core, Restorative Justice is survivor-centered and employs a method of dialogue that involves listening intently to those who have experienced harm. This process has proven to be of great benefit to victims and to communities such as ours, who have been impacted by the sexual abuse crisis. Presenters include Dr. Janine Geske, who is the inaugural Director of the Andrew Center for Restorative Justice Initiative at Marquette University. She is also a distinguished professor of law and former Justice of the State of Wisconsin Supreme Court. Joining Dr. Geske is Dr. Jim Richter. Dr. Richter is a Chicago native and survivor of clergy abuse, who works with institutional and grass roots organizations to advocate for victims and survivors. Marmion welcomes their vast expertise in Restorative Justice initiatives, and their partnership in helping us facilitate the initial phase of the important work of this permanent committee.
